Event Planning Questions, Answered

How working with Nelle works, from the first conversation to the end of the night.

Working with Nelle

Who will plan my event?

Sharonelle, known as Nelle, plans and runs every event herself. She holds a Master's in Events Management & Hospitality, has planned events professionally since 2018 and has delivered over 110 events. About Nelle

Is House of Nelle Planning a separate company from the catering?

It's the planning side of House of Nelle. Planning is booked on its own and works with any caterer. House of Nelle's chefs are available if you'd like them, but they're never required.

What size of event do you plan?

From intimate dinners at home to weddings for 400 guests. The process is the same at every size; only the number of moving parts changes.

Do you plan events for high-profile clients?

Yes. Nelle has planned events for high-profile families and well-known brands, and every client is looked after with complete discretion. That's why you won't find client names on this site.

Which areas do you cover?

London and the Home Counties, including Hertfordshire, Essex, Surrey, Kent, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Middlesex.

Hiring a wedding or event planner

What does a wedding planner actually do?

A wedding planner manages the whole project: budget, venue search, supplier recommendations and bookings, design, guest logistics and the running order, then runs the day itself so the couple and their families can enjoy it. Wedding planning

Do I really need a wedding planner?

Not always. A planner helps most if you're short on time, booking many outside suppliers, planning a multi-day or multi-venue wedding, marrying at home or in a marquee, or don't want family running the day. Which level of planning?

How much does an event planner cost?

It depends on the size and complexity of the event and how much planning you need. Published UK guides put London wedding planners at roughly £3,000 to £10,000 or more for full planning and £800 to £2,500 for on-the-day coordination. We quote every event individually. Typical planner costs

Can a planner save me money?

Often. A planner helps you avoid booking the wrong venue or supplier, spots hidden charges such as minimum spends and corkage, and knows where the budget makes the most difference. Those savings can offset part of the fee.

What's the difference between a wedding planner and a coordinator?

A planner is involved from early on, helping choose the venue and suppliers. A coordinator takes over finished plans in the final weeks and runs the day. Venue coordinators are different again: they work for the venue. Planner vs venue coordinator

How do I choose a wedding planner?

Look for experience with weddings like yours, ask how many weddings they take on the same weekend, who will be there on the day, what's included in the fee and how they recommend suppliers. Meet them first; you'll be working closely together. Questions to ask a planner

Do you plan events other than weddings?

Yes. Nelle plans corporate events, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, engagement parties and family celebrations, at venues and at home. Private party planning

Can we meet Nelle before booking?

Yes. After you enquire, Nelle will arrange a conversation, and meetings are by appointment.

Can you plan an event at short notice?

Sometimes. It depends on the date and how much is already booked. Get in touch with your date and Nelle will tell you honestly what's possible.

Costs and booking

Why don't you publish prices?

Because no two events need the same amount of planning. A garden party for 50 and a three-day wedding for 400 are different jobs, so every event gets its own proposal based on what you actually need.

How far ahead should I book?

As early as you can, especially for spring and summer Saturdays. For large events, three to six months is a sensible minimum, and weddings are often planned a year or more ahead. Shorter notice is sometimes possible, so ask.

How do I get started?

Send an enquiry with your date, guest numbers and what you're planning. Nelle will reply to arrange a conversation, then send a proposal. Start planning

Suppliers and venues

Do you have suppliers you recommend?

Yes. Nelle works with florists, décor and lighting companies, photographers, entertainers, bars, cake makers and more across London and the Home Counties, and recommends the ones that suit your event and budget. Our supplier network

Can I use suppliers I've already booked?

Of course. Nelle works with whoever you've chosen and brings them into the plan like any other supplier.

Do you know the venues?

Nelle has worked at many of the venues listed on this site, from London hotels to Home Counties estates, as well as in private homes, so she knows how they run on the day. Venues we've worked at

On the day

Will Nelle be there on the day?

Yes. Nelle runs the event in person, from setup to the end of the night.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Something small always does, and that's what a planner is there for. Nelle builds contingencies into the plan, from wet-weather options to supplier back-ups, and handles problems quietly before they reach you.

Do you work with the venue's own team?

Yes. Nelle works alongside the venue's events manager and staff, giving them one confirmed plan and one point of contact for every outside supplier.

Will we get a running order before the day?

Yes. Every supplier, and you, get the same detailed running order, showing who arrives when and what happens at each point of the day. Wedding day timeline template

Do you stay until the end?

Yes. Nelle oversees the end of the night and the clear-down, so nobody in your family has to pack up.
